Lanell Bellows was born in Kansas City, MO on November 27th, 1985.  He says that his upbringing helped give him the right mentality all along. At a young age Bellows found himself involved in a lot of fights and decided that boxing was what he wanted to do.  Despite not having any recorded amateur experience, he shows great promise as a pro.

Bellows sparred with Floyd Mayweather for the first time during Floyd’s preparation for his fight against Miguel Cotto.  Floyd was impressed with Bellow’s heart & desire never to give up. This led Floyd to believe that Bellow’s could someday be a good fighter. Late in 2012 Bellows was signed to Mayweather Promotions.

Bellow’s first professional fight took place on February 17th, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona when he stopped an overmatched Armando Gonzalez in the first round. The fight saw Bellows waste no time in landing his power punches and Gonzalez was on the canvas moments later, opting not to continue. Bellow’s second professional fight took place at the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.  The bout ended in a draw.   “I learned a lot from my latest experience in the ring and I will work to be more dominate in my next fight,” said Bellows.  He held true to his word in his next fight on May 4th, 2013 he stopped Matt Garretson in the 4th round by TKO.

Bellows credits his early success as a professional to training with his coaches Rafael Ramos and Bob Ware. He says both helped him train and prepare to make the leap and turn professional.
